I keep it plugged into the battery tender when stored so that the onboard battery stays charged and in good shape. I used it all day the next day to run an electric pressure washer with no problems. I bought this unit for my personal service truck primarily to run my little Makita Air compressor. I also use fuel stabilizer to avoid problems. Added oil, gas and hooked up the battery, in addition to adding the optional wheels dolly.
We started it and ran about 20 minutes. Much to my surprise, the Honda engine actually bogs down and goes into protection mode without ever tripping the 20 amp circuit breaker on the front of the unit. Given other units ive heard, id say this one is quiet so that was nice, in fact if you run it from the bed of your truck with the tailgate up you can barely hear it. The generators were sold at authorized Honda dealers and Home Depot stores. I look forward to many years of quality use. Power is very clean good for electronic devices. The fact that I can run the compressor on my cheap old junk Generac and Kawasaki proves that Honda has missed the mark here severely.
Should meet my needs for a number of years!. The serial number is located on a lower black metal frame towards the rear of the generator see illustration below. The Honda is very well made. And, by the way, it is extremely quiet as generators go. There is a tag to add oil, but nothing about hooking up the battery upon arrival in the box.
Excited now to carry camping and will not have to worry about disturbing neighbors. We do have a larger generator as well but it is difficult for me to move and pull the cord when my husband is not home. Real thought put into the product. Never blinked, and ran on Eco for 40 hours right out of the box. With all the generators running in this crowded venue the spot next to my truck was the quietest.
The only thing i think Honda could have put on the generator is a hour meter to keep track of the hours used for maintenance reasons. One nice feature of our system is that the inverter on the solar side has a built-in transfer switch and battery charger so when I kick on the Honda it switches the house load to the generator automatically and simultaneously charges the battery bank. Awesome product from Honda as would be expected from the trusted brand name!!! Now they didn't do this just to keep your batteries from going dead they also wanted to make sure you checked the oil empty before starting up. I bought this for the turn key quite ease of use operation and because of Honda's reputation. Right after I bought it we lost power. Easy to start, fuel efficient, and quiet.
Plug the compressor in to any 15amp wall plug, runs without issue. I wanted a generator that's user friendly, quiet, fuel efficient, durable, easily maintained and with access to maintenance, repair and replacement parts. I have purchased several Honda generator's over the years, the oil dip sticks seem to be come brittle after a short time of operation, I do not know if this is due to heat or the plastic which it is made from is not compatible for being in oil? The eight hour run time is a tad inconvenient because you have to refill immediately each morning. Rated 5 out of 5 by FrankTheTank from This generator is clearly aimed at the folks that want one to power their recreation trailers. If you receive a lemon its yours end of story.
I won't be holding my breath. I would say of all the hours we have on our unit 90% are in low to moderate load range. An inline filter simply makes good sense on a device that needs to work every time you need it. I keep this generator in the back of my truck as a mobile power source. So, we were very pleased with its performance. I have honda products to be high quality, easy to use, very low noise and very low maintenance.
Run Time Per Tankful 7. I wrote the review Disappointed. We could talk normal as it ran quietly in our little enclosure very brief exposure. It so quite and so efficient on fuel consumption its impressive. Compact and with the wheels attachment make it easy to move around.
It was very hot and would have been nice to have everything working. You will not be disappointed with this unit! I use ethanol free gasoline, since it's available in my state. Tubes to drain the gas and change the oil are mess free. I wish I had it before Hurricane Irma, but I didn't think we would be without electric for as long as we were. I carry my Gen in the back of my pickup locked with a heavy cable.
